Cathedral Matters

Cathedral Matters

I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Matthew Gouldstone as our Director of Music and Artistic Director of the Priory Trust. Matthew will take up his post in April and work closely with our Precentor Father David Mason to continue to build the musical and choral foundations of the Cathedral. Please see the appointments press release for further information.

The Cathedral Organ will celebrates its 160th anniversary on Sunday May 1st. The Organ was originally built for St Peters Church in Manchester and on its completion in 1872 ranked as the fourth largest Church organ in the country. Today the Organ has been fully restored to its former glory and although reduced from 65 speaking stops to 48, it is still a monumental instrument and the finest Transitional Organ in England today. A Songs of Praise service is to be held on the day commencing at 2PM, everyone is very welcome to attend this truly historic occasion.

The final design scheme for the Liturgical East Window has now been approved by Lincoln City Council planning department. The contract for construction and installation has been awarded and we hope that it will be installed in time for our Synod in October.

The Eleanor Cross statue has now been installed and the Lighting Scheme completed, the landscaping will be carried out during the Spring.

For our Easter Services and Times please see the Cathedral Notices on the Home page.

In Christ
