Bishop Michael K. Pope R.I.P.

The Right Reverend Michael Kerry Pope
11th August 1936 – 20th January 2016
Bishop of the Anglican Catholic Church in Austailia

My Dear Friends

It was with profound regret that I received the sad news from Australia that Bishop Michael Kerry Pope had passed away.

As Archbishop Jensen stated, “bishop Pope fought long and hard for the continuation of the Anglican expression of the Christian Faith in Australia, and in particular, in the aftermath of the episcopacy of John Hepworth and the Ordinariate”.

His brilliant wit and sense of humour coupled with his no nonsense approach to the task in hand won him many admirers across Australia and within our Communion. I will always remember his reassuring words at our joint Consecrations in Lincoln, he was a loyal friend to me and a great supporter of our Mission here in the United Kingdom.

A Requiem Mass will be held in St Katherine’s Cathedral on Tuesday 26th January at 9.30hrs.

Rest eternal grant unto him, O Lord.
And let light perpetual shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
And rise in glory.

In His Love
